Books vs. Ebooks
The feeling of holding a new book, not yet opened, the scent of fresh paper, opening the book for the first time and reading.
Or to click a button, buy the book online without leaving home and read.
This is the ultimate rivalry.
On the one hand, one of my favorite things to do is going into a book store and leave with a handful of books.
Another fun thing, is to wake up on a nice Saturday, sit in the sun with a cup of coffee and read.
But on the other hand, if you are travelling, specially for a long time (1 or 2 months), the book becomes a burden.
Specially if you are like me – I don’t “trade” books, I keep them.
When I travelled in India I took 6 books for 2 months and I bought 3 more, so I flew back home with 9 books.
Now that I live in China, after my backlog of books run dry, I bought a Kindle ™ and I still don’t know how I feel about it.
On the one hand – I currently have over 10 books on the kindle ™ (paperwhite), and it still weigh 221.126 grams while a regular 400 page book is around 0.5 Kilo (double).
Another plus side (for some people) is that you don’t need to leave your house to buy a book, you can do it directly via kindle or via Amazon online store.
On the other hand, I don’t “feel it” when i read in Kindle ™ the same as if I read in an actual book.
To summarize – if you are travelling, Kindle ™ is perfect for you, it’s light, convenient, and the battery last forever, so there’s no dependency on external chargers etc.
If you are staying at home – buy the real thing, it doesn’t get any better.
If you don’t have a Kindle and you’re intrested in one – visit Amazon.
Have a good one,
