Road cycling – one of my favorite leisure time activities.
The sound of the thin wheel’s contact with the road is almost minimal and the only noise left is the one of the pedaling and the rider’s breathing.
It sounds “lame” – but sometimes at (relatively) long rides – I feel like me and the bike are one harmonic machine.
In Beijing it’s a little different – here the noises are of rickshaws (motorized), motorbikes, cars, busses etc. – You cannot really ride peacefully.
But that makes it different.
Sometimes to ride here is so dangerous and scary, yet thrilling and interesting!
You always need to keep your eyes peeled and your fingers tightly hovering over the break levers – ready to squeeze them at the moment a car is cutting in front of you.
There was one very good ride just outside Beijing that Serk (Beijing based bicycle store – to see details about events click here) arranged – but other than that most of the rides here are in the city.
I can really warmly recommend on taking this sport – it doesn’t hurt the body (if done right), it will make your body stronger, increase your stamina and general fitness and will burn calories – perfect..!
